We made Oobleck to find out if it was a liquid or a solid.
We found out it could be both.

It was squishy and sticky.
Runny and oozy.
Drippy and dribbly.
Snappy but unbreakable.
Hard but pourable.
It was like something melting.

We dropped,rolled,flattened and poked it. We whacked,hit,squished and broke it.
It was messy, fun and amazing!!

Mini Beasts invade Room 15

Last week as part of our Inquiry on Mini Beasts Jacdun's dad brought some of his little friends to our class. He had a frog, water boatmen, bloodworms, fly lavae, baby flies (dinner for the frog) and a cicada. He also had some toys. One was a wind up creeping caterpillar and the other one was a solar powered insect. We went outside and held the insect in the shade. It didn't move until we put it into the sunlight. To finish off we got to explore Mr Fawcett's insect collection. They were in resin so we looked very carefullyand were able to classify them into insects, arachnids, centipedes and millipedes. We are on the job discovery scientists.

What is a Fralien? We used fractions of circle shapes to make our aliens.

My Fralien is made out of two circles, eight half circles, one quarter circle and six eighth circles. He is called Minda . He lives on Twave. He jumped into his spaceship to go to earth.

  My Fralien has 2 whole circles, 5 half circles, 4 quarter circles and 6 eighth circles. His name is Bloodness Killer and his planet is Night Riler of Death. How Bloodness Killer got to earth? He got to earth with a super shield spaceship.

My Fralien is from Anton. My Fralien likes to eat happy bites. She has four half circles and it has no quarter circles and she has one whole circle. It has five eighth circles. She went to a nice wizard who whizzed her to earth. Her name is Rymla.

My Fralien has 2 whole circles, 4 half circles, 2 quarter circles and 8 eighth circles. My Fralien’s name is Keelliah. She comes from planet Falls. She came to our planet Earth

On something like a big rocket. She made it out of leaves and trees and some wood. She stuffed and kicked the leaves in the bottom.

Mrs Mayall takes us for music and we get to play ukeleles and marimbas. We are learning 'Catch a Falling Star.'

Term2 Folk Dancing Demo

On the last day of term we did a demonstration or our folkdancing for our family and friends. There were lots of visitor who joined in. We had heaps of fun.

Last week PJ came to visit. He is a moodle dog and he is two years old. He was very excited being in our class.

Zoom, zoom, zoom went PJ. He was amazed when he got out of his harness. He was crazy when he was dancing for the Schmacko We got to take a photo with PJ. It was fun. PJ had small black eyes and white curly hair and floppy ears. He was cute because he had a soft tail and that was his longest hair. He was shy and funny. It was fun when PJ came to visit. I wish he could come again.

Last Friday PJ came to visit. He was a little shy because he doesn't know us yet and PJ was very silly because he was dancing around. His favourite treat was Schmackos. He was so fluffy because he is a moodle. His dad’s name was Jack and his mum’s name was Peaches so they took the P from his mum and the J from his dad so they made it into PJ.

Cross Country Art

We drew and painted ourselves running in our school cross country. For some of us it was the first time we had sketched a profile body. It was quite tricky. We drew names out of a box to work out who came in which place. We all wanted to be first place.

Before the race I felt nervous because there was lots of people watching me and I don't want to run at the start because I will cough and I will stop then they will all pass me. I started to cough and everyone did pass me because I had to walk. At the end I was proud of myself because I thought that I had run as fast as I can and I could keep the energy.

I was nervous because there was a lot of people. When it was my turn I thought I was going to lose. I was scared. When I was running some people past me because I wasn't running fast. I thought I should run faster. When I was, I thought I was going to win. When I finished the race I was running fast.

I was doing stretches for cross country. I was coming 15th. I just got past three people. My mother and father were watching me.

Skip counting

On Tuesday I went to the cross country and I came 5th. I ran fast because I had been doing it at home and my little dog did it too. That is why I am fast but not too fast for the cross country. It was alright for me in the big cross country but it was wet. That is why I came 5th. I passed people and I almost came 2nd but I wanted to come 1st. I did not but I tried my best to win the cross country. I was so cool. I loved the other people that were running.

Last Tuesday we did cross country on the big field. I thought when we were doing our warm up that I was going to win so I was excited, but I didn’t. During the race I felt sweaty because I was tired. I felt nervous too. After the race I felt starving because I ran out of energy and I was thirsty. My teacher said “Well done”. I was proud of myself.

I went to the school race. I went past Emily and I was just about at the finish line and zoom, I went past Celeste then Celeste went past me.

Last Tuesday it was Cross Country Day. When we started I was excited because I thought I was going to win. When I got to the third cone I was puffed because I ran out of energy. When we were finished I came seventh. When we went to sit down I was sweaty because my skin was really hot and I thought I was going to melt.

Year 2 Soccer Tournament

Today at 1st break we played Room 14 in the Year 2 school tournament. It was great fun, all pretty friendly and each class got one goal.

Last week our class of 21 6 years olds gathered around the IWB to view some other Year 2 blogs. We loved seeing what other children are doing in their classes and school and we would love to share our learning too. We brainstormed a big list of what we could share and we are itching to go.
